Starting today, historic Copenhagen amusement park Tivoli Gardens kicks off its 21st annual Christmas season brimming with Nordic ‘Jule’ spirit, decorations, concerts, 27 amusement rides, and Christmas markets and booths offering a plethora of warm seasonal drinks and food for the entire family.
Tivoli will also be revealing a new Alpine Area featuring loads of ‘snow’-covered wooden cottages, skis and sleighs, an Alpine Express ride, a Tyrolean carousel and ‘The Nutcracker’ playing at the concert hall.
Alternatively, just enjoy a hot cup of gløgg and some apple fritters as you digest Christmas in Copenhagen.
Tivoli opened in 1843 and is the second oldest amusement park in the world. The oldest is also found in the greater Copenhagen area: Dyrehavsbakken, or simply Bakken as it is known locally, dates all the way back to 1583 and is located in Klampenborg, roughly ten kilometres north of Copenhagen.
