Heavy rain expected in already flood-hit South Thailand

flood-hit south thailandTourists in Thailand are advised to avoid areas of flood-hit south Thailand such as Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat as heavy rain, flash floods and mudslide is expected in some areas, the state weather bureau alerted today.

One of the worst flooded provinces is Narathiwat where all 13 districts have been declared disaster zones following downpours lasting about a week. The hardest hit district was Sungai Kolok bordering Malaysia.

Mahamapesakree Wamae, chief of the disaster prevention and mitigation office in Narathiwat, told vikingnomads.com over telephone this morning that he was concerned that more rainfall would exacerbate the situation in the province.

I spoke to very nice gentleman Mr. Manee Uttarak, director of the weather bureau in the province who warned that Waeng, Sukhirin and Srisakhon districts as high risk areas.

Vikingnomads readers will get the latest updates on situation every six hours.
